Timely inspect the brake linings for the correct thickness, this information can be found in your Volkswagen workshop manual, and replace them if they fall below the minimum thickness. It is advisable to also replace all fastening parts immediately. If the car does not have an automatic brake adjustment system, the brake shoes must be readjusted by pressing the brake pedal several times and then turning the adjusting gears through the brake lining inspection holes with a screwdriver (first turn the brake shoes against the brake drum and then back 2 to 3 teeth).
