Description
To limit the suspension travel, bump stops can be found on the rear axle; in the swing axle* models, these are mounted on a separate bracket. The rubber is pressed onto a thickening located in the middle of the bracket. Moisture and dirt can accumulate there, creating a breeding ground for rust, which damages the thickening and causes it to break off spontaneously when pulling the rubber. The only solution then is to mount a new bracket. It is advisable to also directly install a set of new rubbers alongside the bracket, as they will likely be in equally urgent need of replacement if your bracket has rusted through.
Compatible with the following swing axle* models:
Beetle from August 1964 and later
Karmann Ghia from August 1964 and later
Type 3 all model years
