Always replace the rubber if it is torn, this will keep your shifting mechanism clean and prevent grease from getting dirty.

Installation can be done in a few minutes; unscrew the gear knob from the gear stick, remove the worn rubber, slide the new rubber in place, and screw the knob back on.
