Torn drive shaft boots not only lead to rejection during the annual inspection, but also cause loss of grease, which provides lubrication for the constant velocity joints on the rear axle equipped with intermediate shafts, and loss of gearbox oil in the pendulum axle system.
Check the condition of the drive shaft boots at every maintenance service and replace them if damaged or showing signs of dryness (small hairline cracks).
