Description
Threaded rod bushings (case savers) were originally intended for repairing the crankcase. When the threaded rods are pulled out of the crankcase, it is usually due to a too high tightening torque in combination with a too high engine temperature. It is a repair method that Volkswagen frequently used for rebuilt engines. This was usually done preventively, as thread repaired in this way is much stronger than the original thread. For those involved in tuning, they are also commonly used to reinforce the crankcase at this point, as the chances of a threaded rod being pulled out of the crankcase are much higher with increased power than with a standard engine. Threaded rod bushings save the crankcase from the scrap heap, hence the more well-known term “case saver”. If you want to use them for other applications, both the inner and outer diameter are specified.
