Description
A sharp grinding sound when disengaging is often caused by a worn release bearing. You will need to remove the engine to address this issue, so it is advisable to thoroughly inspect or, even better, replace the pressure plate and clutch disc.
The release bearing is mounted on the clutch fork with clips. For the older model release bearing, the clips need to be ordered separately, as they are only available in a reinforced version.
Use only the special clutch assembly grease for proper and long-lasting lubrication of the release bearing, primary shaft, thrust bearing, and any installed guide bushing. Normal grease can melt due to heat and end up on the clutch disc.
