Description
Replacing the crankshaft pulley with a trendy aluminum one is often done because it looks better, but there is a much bigger advantage: the weight is much lower, which helps to increase engine power. The pulley mentioned here has a diameter of 170 mm. This size pulley was originally only used on 1200 or 1300 cc engines. The 1500 and 1600 cc engines were equipped with a 177 mm pulley to achieve a higher cooling output related to the larger engine power.
A pulley with lighter weight and a smaller diameter is the key to maximizing the engine power from your pulley, which is why these 170 mm pulleys are frequently used on 1500 and 1600 cc engines. However, there is a downside; the cooling capacity is reduced by the smaller diameter, which is why the 1500 and 1600 cc engines are not mentioned in the application.
Thanks to the degree ring, adjusting the engine becomes much easier compared to an original pulley. Both the top dead center (TDC) and bottom dead center (BDC) are clearly indicated.
