Description
Up to 1966, all Volkswagens had a single braking system (some cheaper European Beetle models even up to 1969).
The dual circuit braking system was introduced in model year 1967. In this system, the front and rear brake lines are separate. If the pressure from the front wheels, for example, drops, you still have the rear brakes. With a single circuit, you would lose your entire foot brake in that case. The dual circuit braking system can be recognized by the two supply points from the brake fluid reservoir to the master cylinder.
